If you are a golfaholic, you must visit the World Golf Hall of Fame located in the World Golf Village, St. Augustine Florida. If you are only an avid golfer, part time golfer, couch potato golfer or a follower and supporter of the game, you too must make it a high priority to visit also.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

See details of my condo which is available for rent, and is situated in the World Golf Village just minutes away from the World Golf Hall of Fame.

Why go to the World Golf Hall of Fame? Because it was opened in 1998, to enable you to join in celebrating past and present icons of the game of golf. From learning more about early pioneers of the game, including the Royal and Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews,  to seeing tributes to those players and officials who have been inducted into the Hall of Fame, including 2006 inductees, Mark McCormack, Marilynn Smith, Henry Picard, Larry Nelson and Vijay Singh.

You also have the opportunity to try your hand at using hickory shafted putters and gutta percha balls on an 1880 style of putting green. You may also be entertained by volunteer tour guides who on occasion have been known to portray and even impersonate some of the legends of the game.

When

you leave the World Golf Hall of Fame, your tour of the World Golf Village is about to start. There is the PGA Golf Academy which offers private lessons, clinics and golf schools for players of all levels. It also hosts summer junior camps. There is also the Hall of Fame Challenge Hole which might remind you of the 17th hole of the Stadium Course, at Tournament Players Club at Sawgrass in nearby Ponte Vedra. The hole is 132 yards long and looks quite short until you stand on the tee and see all the water surrounding the island green. You will get a prize for multiple balls on the green and also for a hole in 1. There is also the PGA Tour Spa located at the Laterra Resort, which is also where my rental condo is available.

Of course you also have the opportunity to play on both of the championship courses situated in the World Golf Village. These are the official golf courses of the World Golf Hall of Fame. Both courses have hosted the Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf tournament, and also Shell's Wonderful World of Golf matches. The King and Bear Course was designed by and named after Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus. It is the only course where these two giants of the game have collaborated on a course design. The Slammer and Squire Course is named after its consultants Sam Snead and Gene Sarazen, although it was designed by Bobby Weed, and the clubhouse is steps away from the World Golf Hall of Fame.

Very importantly for the future of the game of golf, you will also find the headquarters of 'The First Tee' program just outside the Hall of Fame. This programme has more than 250 golf-learning facilities in the U.S.A, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand and Singapore, with another 40 chapters in development.
